Youth Opioid Awareness town hall planned Jan. 24

Four local organizations will host the Youth Opioid Awareness town hall Jan. 24 at Richmond Elite Academy in Mechanicsville. The event is being organized by Henrico Too Smart 2 Start Coalition, with support from Richmond Area Mental Health, Henrico County Public Schools, and the Richmond Elite Academy.
The town hall will feature a panel of prominent athletes, current athletes, coaches, mental health professionals, and medical professionals, who will discuss the factors that may lead youth to opioid misuse; provide information and skills on how to avoid opioid misuse; and discuss what can be done to reduce youth opioid misuse.
The event will take place from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Richmond Elite Academy, 8445 Ellerson Drive in Mechanicsville, about two miles north of Henrico High School. It is free, and refreshments will be provided.
