30-year-old Henrico man charged with second-degree murder of his mother near Wilder Middle School

A 30-year-old Henrico County man faces second-degree murder charges after police allege he was the driver of an SUV that struck and killed his 59-year-old mother in the front yard of his Northern Henrico home Sept. 30.

Andre Vincent Keels is charged in the case, which occurred at his home in the 7800 block of Point Hollow Drive in the Sterling Forest subdivision near Wilder Middle School and resulted in the death of Robyn I. Keels of Chesterfield County.

The incident occurred just before 9:30 a.m. Thursday morning. Henrico Police received a mental health call for service and reports of a naked male outside the residence yelling. When they arrived, they found Keels naked in the driver's seat of a Hyundai SUV.

Police are continuing to work with the State Medical Examiner's Office in determining the cause of death. A Facebook page belonging to Andre Keels describes him as having attended L.C. Bird High School in Chesterfield, VCU and the University of Richmond School of Law. A post on the page from sometime during the past two days read "Sorry all. I've been dealing with insomnia and I believe I may have fallen asleep. im safe and im sorry."
