Henrico Delegate Rodney Willett (D-58th District) announced March 13 that he will seek re-election to the House of Delegates for a fourth term.

Willett first was elected to the seat in 2019 and subsequently earned re-election in 2021 and 2023. In a statement announcing that he would seek another two-year term, Willett championed what he termed his “bipartisan solutions for Henrico families.”

“Whether it’s fighting to lower costs, protecting reproductive freedoms, or ensuring every child has access to a world-class education and safer communities, Henrico families deserve leaders who put them first,” Willett said. “I am even more committed to ensuring that Henrico is the very best place to live, work, and raise a family.”

State Navigate designated Willett as one of the most bipartisan legislators in Virginia. Twelve of his bills were passed in the General Assembly’s 2025 session.

Republican Milad Hilaslasi Mikhail, an attorney, engineer and restaurant owner, has filed to seek his party's nomination to challenge Willett in the Nov. 4 general election.

Willett has the endorsement of former Democratic Congresswoman Abigail Spanberger, who is seeking to become Virginia’s first female governor in November.

“Rodney has earned a reputation for consistently delivering real results for Henrico families — strengthening public schools, creating good-paying jobs, making Virginia more affordable, and finding bipartisan solutions to improve the lives of the Virginians he serves,” Spanberger said in a statement. “Rodney has also made protecting Virginians’ fundamental rights — including access to abortion, contraception, and IVF — a clear priority.”

Willett is an attorney and technology consultant. During his time in the General Assembly, he has served as chair of the House Behavioral Health Subcommittee, the House Compensation and Retirement Appropriations Subcommittee, the Joint Commission on Health Care, the Virginia Health Workforce Development Authority, and the Speaker's Select Committee on Advancing Rural and Small Town Health Care.
