West Broad Village hosting ‘The Giving Table’ weekly in September

Every Saturday in September, West Broad Village will host The Giving Table, a food donation drive to benefit FeedMore.

The event will run noon to 5 p.m. each day, and WBV also will host “Feed the Plate,” an educational craft-based event Sept. 17 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

“Our corporate philanthropic initiative is fighting hunger,” said Wesley Sin, marketing manager at ShopCore Properties, which owns and manages the community. “We are dedicated to eliminating the growing problem of childhood hunger by feeding young bodies and minds through our corporate initiative, CoreGiving. We are honored to team up with noteworthy local partners like Feed More to collect donations from the community to combat childhood hunger. We believe that no child should experience hunger and its negative effects.”

Positioned in the park between Gather and the pad, the Giving Table offers drop-off opportunities for shoppers to donate non-perishable food items to give back to the local community.

“The Giving Table is a powerful visual representation of one in six children in the United States who go hungry,” said Sin. “A striking orange table with six chairs will be strategically placed in the park. The sixth chair will be white, showcasing a stark fact — that every sixth child experiences some form of food insecurity.”

“Feed the Plate” will educate children about nutrition, hunger, and food insecurity through hands-on activities such as complimentary kids coloring and arts and crafts. Participants also will have the opportunity to donate nonperishable food items during the event.
