The Carole and Marcus Weinstein Jewish Community Center recently announced the promotion of its chief operating officer to the role of chief executive officer.

Orly Lewis, who has served the center for more than two decades in various roles, took over the role of CEO April 1. She is the first female to hold the position at the JCC.

Her hire followed a national search led by board members and search committee co-chairs Shelley Gouldin and Chris Greenberg.

“Orly has been a tireless force behind the mission and growth of the Weinstein JCC,” said Sara Villalona, president of the Weinstein JCC board of directors. “Her dedication, knowledge and expertise are invaluable to our cause and the thousands of members we serve. The search committee voted unanimously to promote Orly, and we are excited to welcome her as our new CEO and look forward to working with her to accomplish great things as the leader of our organization,”

A native of Be’er Sheva Israel, Lewis came to the United States as a young adult where she built her family, learned the English language and adapted to the American culture. Prior to becoming COO in 2016, Lewis held a variety of programmatic and leadership role at the center.

A graduate of the University of Richmond School of Continuing Studies and the Community Foundation’s Emerging Non-Profit Leadership Program, Lewis is distinguished in the Jewish nonprofit sector.
