The Weinstein JCC has publicly launched its $8.5-million “Building a Bright Future Together” capital campaign, designed to enhance its facilities and expand its programs.

The initial phase of the campaign has secured nearly 80% of the funds, according to CEO Orly Lewis, thanks in part to a contribution and match from the Weinstein-Jecklin family, as well as full board participation and support from donors. The organization hopes to raise the rest of the necessary funds from the community.

The campaign will help fund enhancements across the preschool and after-school programs, along with the fitness center, aquatic facilities, and Camp Hilbert, its summer camp for children. Other improvements (to security and the renovation of the Arenstein lobby) will be among the projects earmarked for campaign funding, along with the introduction of a Kosher Grab-and-Go Café and versatile spaces for gathering and collaboration, upgrades to the JCC's security systems and the repaving of its parking lot.

"Our programs excel consistently," Lewis said. "From top-tier early childhood education to Camp Hilbert, revered as Richmond's premier summer camp, we nurture community and development. Yet, our facilities must evolve to meet growing demand and uphold our standards."

Founded in 1946, the Weinstein JCC serves nearly 7,000 members of all backgrounds and numerous visitors annually.
