Virginia Humanities this week announced more than $207,000 in grants and sponsorships to 20 Virginia nonprofits. The funding will support a variety of humanities-based projects, including film festivals, storytelling projects, research and community engagement initiatives.

Among the recipients is the Weinstein JCC in Henrico County, which was awarded $2,000 to support its Israeli and Jewish Film Festival. The festival aims to showcase films that resonate with both Jewish and non-Jewish communities in Central Virginia, fostering dialogue and understanding.

"For 50 years, we’ve had the honor of awarding grants to important projects that amplify the stories of the people of Virginia,” said Virginia Humanities’ executive director Matthew Gibson. “Each of these projects speaks to an aspect of what it means to be a Virginian, what it means to be human, and what it means to be part of the rich cultural tapestry that makes our commonwealth unique.”
