Three Lakes Park, 400 Sausiluta Drive, will host an outdoor showing of the film “The Lost World: Jurassic Park” on Friday, Aug. 4. The movie will begin at sunset, approximately 8:15 p.m. Bring a lawn chair or blanket and flashlight. Concessions will be available for purchase. GWN Dragon Boat will present the Richmond International Dragon Boat Festival Saturday, Aug. 5 at Rocketts Landing, 4708 East Old Main Street. Teams of paddlers from across the East Coast will navigate 40-foot canoes that resemble dragons down the James River. Spectators will enjoy live music, demonstrations, Chinese cultural performances, a health and wellness village, beer garden, food trucks, marketplace and more. Tuckahoe Library will present Story Quilts with Dr. Denise Lowe Walters on Saturday, Aug. 5 from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Walters is a story quilt artist, scientist and Nottoway Indian Tribe of Virginia council chair. Her multimedia story quilts illustrate tribal history and culture and reflect the artist's passion for science and the environment. Her work has recently been displayed at the Chrysler Museum of Art, Jamestown Settlement, Peninsula Fine Arts Center, and Gallery 5 in Richmond. Walters' original works will be on view in the library during the program. This program is sponsored by the Friends of the Library. The Lakeside Farmers’ Market will host a local maker’s market on Sunday, Aug. 6 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. This “Brunch & Shop PJ Party” will include local shopping, brunch from Haute Dayum and Purpose Espresso, live music, kids’ activities and a best- and worst-dressed pajama contest. Items for sale include art, clothing, candles, baked treats and sweets, fermented goods, jewelry, skincare, handmade jams and more. The Lakeside Local Maker’s Market is a community event to celebrate local makers and crafters and is typically held on the third Sunday of each month at the Lakeside Farmers’ Market.
