Mountainfilm on Tour will bring to Henrico a selection of films shown at the annual festival in Telluride, Colo. The films will be shown outdoors starting at sunset (approximately 8:30 p.m.) at Deep Run Park on Friday, June 30. Mountainfilm is an organization and festival of films about people, stories and ideas that celebrate the indomitable spirit. Admission is free. ***Mia’s Book Room, an organization that highlights Black authors and works to promote literacy and access to books in the community, will hold a free book fair Saturday, July 1 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at The St. Luke Legacy Center, 409 East Laburnum Avenue. Nearly 1,000 books will be given away and there are titles appropriate for children, teens and adults. Click here for details.


Heartfulness Richmond, 2230 East Parham Road, will celebrate International Day of Yoga with an afternoon of yoga, dance and meditation on Saturday, July 1 from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Attendees can participate in three sessions: Bolly X Fitness from 3:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. (move and groove with the infectious rhythms of Bollywood music); Ashtanga Yoga from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. (this form of yoga synchronizes breath with a series of postures); and Raja Yoga Meditation from 5 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. (connect with your innermost being through a calming meditation technique). All ages and fitness levels are welcome. Water and light refreshments will be available. Admission to the event is free, but donations are accepted to support the Richmond VA Meditation Center’s community outreach programs. Country/rock band Sister Hazel will perform at The Tin Pan on Saturday, July 1 at 8 p.m. Their song “All for You” topped the adult alternative charts during the summer of 1997 and the success propelled their album to platinum status. Sister Hazel, comprised of five seasoned musicians, has been called “one of the Top 100 Most Influential Independent Performers of the last 15 years” by Performing Songwriter Magazine.
