The Henrico Theatre Summer Series will present Kadencia on Friday, June 23 at 7 p.m. Kadencia’s leader utilizes bomba and plena’s long-rooted storytelling traditions to vividly capture multiple aspects of the Puerto Rican experience on the U.S. territory and on the U.S. mainland. The Adopt Haiti Project will host the Caribbean American Heritage Festival and Parade from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday, June 24 at Dorey Park, 2999 Darbytown Road in Varina. The festival, organized to commemorate Caribbean American Heritage month, aims to showcase the vibrant culture, food, art, dance, music and diversity of Caribbean nations. The festival will offer a variety of attractions and activities for attendees of all ages, including live performances (including The Image Band, LoKal, local artists Friday Love and DJ Kezin, and more), food trucks and vendors, a children’s area featuring arts and crafts, and giveaways. The Richmond Gem Amethyst Rock Fossil Sale will take place Saturday, June 24 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, June 25 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Holiday Inn Express Richmond-Midtown, 2000 Staples Mill Road. Items for sale include meteorites, cabochons, amethyst cathedrals (five inches to five feet), thousands of rocks and fossils for $5 each, crystals, minerals, gems and more.
