The Modlin Center for the Arts at the University of Richmond will present Richard Sheridan’s “The Rivals” April 14-15 at 7:30 p.m. and April 16 at 2 p.m. in the Alice Jepson Theatre. The play follows Lydia Languish, the headstrong daughter of a wealthy family who is fiercely determined to rebuff her parental desires and marry for love rather than money. Admission is free. Accessible sports club Sportable will host the 3rd Annual RVA Adaptive Sports Festival on Saturday, April 15 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Glen Allen High School. The inclusive experience day will provide the opportunity to try sports equipment adapted for individuals of all ages with limited mobility, physical disabilities, and visual impairments. The event is free and open to the public and community members are invited to cheer on some of the top wheelchair sports teams in the region, including the Sportable Possums wheelchair rugby team, Sportable Rim Riders wheelchair basketball team, and Sportable Hive power soccer team, when they host exhibition games throughout the day. Adaptive sports such as archery, boccia, cycling, goalball, pickleball, racing, rowing, and tennis will also be featured through demonstrations, pickup games, and skills clinics. Reynolds Community College will celebrate its 50th anniversary year with 50Fest, a family-friendly outdoor event, on Saturday, April 15 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the Parham Road Campus, 1651 East Parham Road. Activities will include live music, food trucks, inflatables, face painting, a balloon artist, raffles, interactive activities hosted by Reynolds faculty and staff, a “touch-a-truck” area, and more. A short program will take place around noon with remarks from Reynolds College Board Member Monica Smith-Callahan, President Paula Pando, and Henrico Board of Supervisors Chair Frank Thornton. “Weeding Out the Stoned” – the game show of sobriety tests – will take place at the CSz Richmond Theater, 8906-H West Broad Street, on Saturday, April 15 at 9:30 p.m. A pack of comedians will enter – all of them stoned but one – and it’s up to the audience to eliminate the comics who are high and uncover the sober “narc” so everyone can win prizes. “Detective” Alex Grubard, a stand-up comedian, writer and game show host based in New Jersey, will seek audience testimony, play mind games and administer sobriety tests to the nation’s premier drug-induced comics. Virginia Pride and community partners will host Rainbow Roll on Sunday, April 16 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Roller Dome, 4902 Williamsburg Road in Sandston. This “Spring Fling” skate party is an all-ages and sober event. Hosted by Stacy Monique Max with music by DJ Joey. Admission is $10 at the door and includes roller skate rental.
