The 2023 Richmond Home + Garden Show will take place at Richmond Raceway from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Mar. 3-4 and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mar. 5. The show will feature all things spring home improvement and landscape design with access to more than 200 exhibitors, including an array of local and national home remodeling and construction professionals and garden and landscaping experts. This year’s home celebrity is landscape designer Mike Pyle, co-host of the HGTV home renovation show “Inside Out.” Joining him on the schedule is Randy Battle, Henrico County gardening enthusiast and YouTube star. Seniors 60+ with valid ID are admitted free on Friday only. The Virginia Orchid Society Show and Sale, “Under Their Spell,” will take place at Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden Mar. 3 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., Mar. 4 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Mar. 5 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Hundreds of orchids will be on display and for sale. There also will be lectures for beginners and more experienced growers. There is no cost to attend the sale or lectures in the Kelly Education Center. The Henrico Theatre Company will present “All Kinds of People” at the Henrico Theatre on Mar. 3-4 at 7 p.m. and on Mar. 5 at 3 p.m. Throughout a career that spanned four decades, Oscar Hammerstein II tackled themes of racism and cultural bias, changing the very course of musical theatre in the process. These issues are considered through songs like “Ol’ Man River” from Show Boat, “You’ve Got to be Carefully Taught” from South Pacific, and many others from musicals such as The King and I, The Sound of Music and Carousel. Featuring actors Kyle Billeter, Quan Chau, Amber dePass and Bobby Henderson. Directed by Amy Perdue with music direction by Joshua N. Wortham. Tickets are $5. HATTheatre, located at 1124 Westbriar Drive in Henrico’s West End, will continue its 30th season with “Lewiston” Mar. 3-4 at 8 p.m. and Mar. 5 at 2 p.m. Written by Samuel D. Hunter (“The Whale,” “A Bright New Boise”), “Lewiston” focuses on the modern-day descendants of Meriwether Lewis and William Clark. Set in a fireworks stand off a rural Idaho highway, this moving story explores the emotional frontiers of a family struggling to make a home in the vastness of the American landscape. Henrico Extension and Henrico Master Gardeners will present "Garden Bloopers: Learn from a Henrico Master Gardener" at Fairfield Area Library on Saturday, Mar. 4 from 11 a.m. to noon. Learn how to avoid common gardening mistakes - like overwatering, mulch volcanoes, shrub balls and "crape murder" - in order to save time and money. Books and other resources will be available.
