Lakeside Farmers Market and Safe Space Market RVA will host HalloweenTowne Block Party on Friday, Oct. 28 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. More than 40 vendors will be at the Farmers Market and children can trick-or-treat at shops along Lakeside Avenue. Some shops will have food and drink specials. There also will be music by DJ Lucid, food trucks and a costume contest with $100 in local Lakeside prizes. Admission is free. The Dorey Park Farmers Market will host a free Community Fall Festival on Saturday, Oct. 29 from 9 a.m. to noon. There will be hayrides, the Teeny Tiny Farm petting zoo, a pumpkin patch, treat bags, face painting, balloon art, games and more. Free treats, popcorn and pumpkins are available for kids while supplies last. Tyler Meacham will provide entertainment beginning at 10 a.m. Costumes are encouraged but not required. In addition to the fall festival, the market will be open with fresh produce, baked goods and locally-made items. This is the last market day of 2022. Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden will host its annual HarvestFest Fall Festival on Saturday, Oct. 29 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. The Slack Family Bluegrass Band and The Sweet Potatoes will provide live music at Bloemendaal House. There also will be German food, adult beverages and a local Maker’s Market. Activities in the Children’s Garden include live music by Markiss Blowfish, fairy house building and drop-in gardening, pumpkin painting, face painting, crafts, story time and more. Rain or shine. The 2nd Annual Libbie Mill Fall Festival will be held Saturday, Oct. 29 from noon to 5 p.m. at Libbie Mill—Midtown, 2100 Libbie Lake East Street. There will be a costume contest with prizes, trick or treating around the lake, food, live music, vendors, a hay maze, the Teeny Tiny Farm petting zoo, magic with Jonathan Austin, a balloon artist, inflatables and more. Virginia Repertory Theatre will present “The Emperor’s New Clothes” at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 30 at The Cultural Arts Center at Glen Allen. This literary folktale written by Hans Christian Andersen is about a vain emperor who gets exposed before his subjects. The family-friendly performance will be held outdoors; in the case of inclement weather, the show will be moved into the theatre. Admission is free. Sponsored by Henrico Recreation and Parks.
