The Henrico Theatre Company will present “The Outsider” at 8 p.m. Sept. 16-17 and at 3 p.m. Sept. 18 at The Cultural Arts Center at Glen Allen. This comedy, written by Paul Slade Smith, skewers politics and celebrates democracy. It centers around Ned Newley, who might be the worst candidate to ever run for office. The RVA Kids Fall Consignment Sale will be held Saturday, Sept. 17 at Christ Church Episcopal, 5000 Pouncey Tract Road. The sale features gently used and new items for kids ages 0-18 including clothing, toys, books, DVDs, sports equipment, baby items, bikes and more. Hours are 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The site will close from 11:30 a.m. to noon and reopen with discounts of 50% on many items from 12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. All church proceeds benefit disadvantaged communities local and beyond. St. Mary and St. Mercurius Coptic Orthodox Church, 2101 Fordson Road in Henrico, will host its third annual Egyptian Festival from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sept. 17 and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sept. 18. The festival will include authentic Egyptian food and culture, pictures with pharaohs, henna tattoos, face painting, activities for kids and more. Admission is free and open to the community. The Richmond Mac and Cheese Festival has joined forces with the Wing a Ding Ding Wing and Fried Chicken Festival for a two-for-one food experience on Saturday, Sept. 17 at Richmond Raceway. In addition to more than 30 kinds of mac and cheese and more than 30 kinds of wings/fried chicken, there will be craft beers, wines, ciders, live bands, entertainment and more. Henrico County will host Soulful Sunday on Sept. 18 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Eastern Henrico Recreation Center. This free celebration honors the contributions of African Americans to art, music, food and religion, and the enduring marks Black heritage has had on American society. The event features dance and music performances, children’s activities, product and food vendors, and more.
