Family band Mountain Highway will perform at the Henrico Theatre, 305 East Nine Mile Road, at 8 p.m. on Friday, Mar. 25. The band is comprised of four sibling singers who play banjo, fiddle, mandolin and guitar, and are accompanied by their father playing upright bass. They perform traditional bluegrass and gospel music originally made famous by icons like Bill Monroe, Flatt & Scruggs, and Ralph Stanley. Tickets are $5. Accessible sports club Sportable will host the RVA Adaptive Sports Festival on Saturday, Mar. 26 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at J.R. Tucker High School. The accessible and inclusive experience day will provide the opportunity for people of all ages to try sports equipment adapted for limited mobility, physical disabilities, and visual impairments. More than 50 vendors will be in attendance showcasing community resources for the disability community in Virginia. Additionally, Richmond Region Tourism’s J.C. Poma will lead a Team USA Q&A with elite athletes and Paralympians Alyssa Gialamas (swimming), Nick Creasey (soccer), and Chris Marston (paratriathlon). Community members are encouraged to cheer on some of the top wheelchair sports teams in the region – including the Sportable Possums wheelchair rugby team, Sportable Rim Riders wheelchair basketball team, and Sportable Hive power soccer team – when they host exhibition games throughout the day. Henrico Recreation and Parks will present “History in Focus: Women in the Jeffersonian Era” at Meadow Farm Museum on Saturday, Mar. 26. The presidency of Thomas Jefferson marked a change in women’s roles in their households and in society. Explore the life and connections of Mary Glen Crenshaw Austin Sheppard, first female owner of Meadow Farm. The Cultural Arts Center at Glen Allen will present Swingtime featuring London’s The Jive Aces on Saturday, Mar. 26 at 7 p.m. The Jive Aces are internationally known for their stage show and energetic renditions of swing, jive and R&B classics by Louis Prima, Cab Calloway, Bobby Darin, Louis Armstrong, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr. and more.
