The Richmond African Violet Society Show & Sale will take place at Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden April 4-6. Discover interesting and unusual African violet varieties, both on display and for purchase (while supplies last). Visitors can expect to see floral arrangements using African violets, such as underwater arrangements, terrariums and natural plantings, and meet knowledgeable growers who can answer questions and provide resources to enhance your growing experience. Henrico Recreation and Parks will show 2023's "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem" (PG) at Meadow Farm Museum at Crump Park on Friday, April 4. The 15th Annual Pass the Hat Baseball Game between Benedictine College Preparatory and St. Christopher's School will take place Saturday, April 5 at 7 p.m. at RF&P Park’s Glen Allen Stadium. The longstanding tradition brings together the two rivals to raise funds and awareness for Jacob's Chance, a Richmond-based nonprofit that offers inclusive and accessible programs for people ages 5 to 40 with intellectual, developmental and physical disabilities. The highlight of the night will be when Jacob’s Chance members “pass the hat” through the crowd, collecting donations to help keep sports accessible for every athlete, regardless of financial circumstances. Since its inception, Pass the Hat has raised more than $65,000 to support River City Buddy Ball, Jacob’s Chance’s inclusive sports program that provides youth and young adults with disabilities access to athletics. Henrico Recreation and Parks will host Kite Day at Dorey Park on Sunday, April 6 from noon to 3 p.m. In addition to flying kites, there will be kite demonstrations, train rides, a children’s entrepreneurship market, food and beverages for purchase, and more. If you don't have a kite, there will be supplies to make and decorate your own. (Free kits are available to the first 500 people. Limit one per person present.) Admission is free. Eleone Dance Theatre will present "NU: Celebrating the Endless Possibilities of Renewal & Growth" at The Cultural Arts Center at Glen Allen on Sunday, April 6 at 3 p.m. Eleone Dance Theatre is dedicated to the preservation and creation of historical and contemporary theatre dance celebrating intergenerational as well as uni- and multicultural themes that educate and entertain. The performance will incorporate contemporary, modern, spiritual, rhythm and blues, African, hip-hop, and more styles. Tickets are $25. Click here for details or call (804) 261-ARTS.
