Two stand-up comedians will perform this weekend at the Richmond Funny Bone in Short Pump: Dave Attell (7 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. March 28 and 6:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. March 29) and Christian Johnson (6:30 p.m. March 30). Attell has many television and movie credits to his name but is best known as the host of Comedy Central's "Insomniac with Dave Attell." His most recent comedy special was released on Netflix in 2024, titled "Dave Attell: Hot Cross Buns." Johnson is a rising star who has shared the stage with many celebrity comedians. Henrico Recreation and Parks will present "Mother Maybelle & the Carters in Henrico" on Saturday, March 29 from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the Dumbarton Board Room of the Recreation and Parks Building at 6800 Staples Mill Road. Henrico was once the home to Mother Maybelle and the Carter girls. Learn about their years in the county and discover the various people, events and iconic radio broadcasts that served as fuel in their meteoric rise to fame. The University of Richmond's hip-hop group Block Crew and South Asian fusion team Bollywood Jhatkas will present a two-part dance experience titled "Bollywood on the Block" on Saturday, March 29 at 3 p.m. in Camp Concert Hall. This joint showcase features student-choreography and cover dance performances with music spanning through decades of Bollywood and hip-hop music. Both dance organizations will each run 45-minute sets with a 10-minute intermission. Admission is free and open to the public, but tickets are required. One Voice Chorus will present its Spring 2025 concert on Saturday, March 29 at 4 p.m. at Derbyshire Baptist Church, 8800 Derbyshire Road in Henrico. The concert will include new selections and old favorites in an eclectic blend of musical styles, including spirituals, jazz and popular music, with accompaniment by professional instrumentalists. Henrico Recreation and Parks will present Soaring Tails on Sunday, March 30 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Dorey Park. Families are invited to come fly a kite - bring your own or borrow one from Rec & Parks staff at the Farmer's Market shelter. There also will be games and other activities.
