Pirate Dog Cards & Collectibles will host its third PokeBash event, and its first in RVA, on Saturday, March 8 from 10 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Lakeside United Methodist Church, 2333 Hilliard Road. The event will feature 25+ of the area's top TCG vendors for a day of buying, selling and trading. Local DJ Eddo Face will be performing and cosplay is not only allowed but encouraged. Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden will present a workshop on "Mushroom Cultivation" on Saturday, March 8 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. With over 2,189 types of edible mushrooms that grow around the world, there are many unique varieties to explore. Instructor and gardener Will Nelson will teach participants how to cultivate their own gourmet and medicinal mushrooms at home. Participants will be able to examine and feel the variety of materials involved in growing mushrooms, including mycelium and substrate, and will receive a take-home grow kit of either Lions Mane or Reishi mushrooms. The McCartney Experience will perform at The Tin Pan, 8982 Quioccasin Road, on Saturday, March 8 at 8 p.m. Jed Duvall leads this authentic tribute to the former Beatle. The band will cover music from the early years of Beatlemania throughout the career of the Fab Four and also hits from McCartney's days with Wings and solo numbers he made famous. Duvall matches McCartney's appearance and mannerisms and despite being a natural right-hander, taught himself to play left-handed, just like McCartney. Tickets are $35. The Virginia Bridal & Wedding Expo will take place Sunday, March 9 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Richmond Raceway Complex. A large selection of industry professionals will be on site including bakers, florists, venues, DJs and other musicians, photographers, makeup artists, jewelers, event planners, caterers, decorators, and more. There also will be cash prizes and giveaways, a fashion show, samples, and more. Admission is free with online registration or $10 at the door. Parking is free. In honor of Women's History Month, Henrico Recreation and Parks will present "History in Focus: Pocahontas" on Sunday, March 9 from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Deep Run Recreation Center. She's on the Henrico County seal but many Henricoans don't know a lot about her. This historical presentation will focus on the life and times of Pocahontas, also known as Matoaka and Rebecca Rolfe - someone who could be considered America's first First Lady.
