J.R. Tucker High School's Theatre Department will present "Rhinoceros" by Eugene Ionesco at 7 p.m. Feb. 28 and March 1 at the school, 2910 North Parham Road. In the absurdist play originally written in 1959, the inhabitants of a small, provincial French town turn into rhinoceroses. The only human who does not succumb to this mass metamorphosis is the central character. The play is often read as a response and criticism to the sudden upsurge of Fascism and Nazism during the events preceding World War II. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased online here.

River City Community Players will present "Crimes of the Heart" by Beth Henley on Friday, Feb. 28 at 7:30 p.m. and on Saturday, March 1 at 2:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. at The Gayton Kirk Presbyterian Church, 11421 Gayton Road. The three MaGrath sisters are back together in their hometown of Hazelhurst, Mississippi for the first time in a decade. The eldest, Lenny, never left Hazelhurst and is the caretaker of the sisters' grandfather. Middle sister Meg pursued fame as a singer in Los Angeles but has, so far, only found happiness at the bottom of a bottle. And Babe, the youngest, has just been arrested for the attempted murder of her abusive husband. Each sister must come to terms with the consequences of her own “crimes of the heart." Tickets are $15.
