The Henrico Theatre Company will present "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown" Feb. 7-9 at The Cultural Arts Center at Glen Allen. Based on the Peanuts comic strip by Charles Schulz, "You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown" explores life through the eyes of Charlie Brown and his friends in the Peanuts gang. Musical numbers include “My Blanket and Me,” “The Kite,” “The Baseball Game,” “Little Known Facts,” “Suppertime,” and “Happiness.” Showtimes are 7 p.m. Feb. 7, 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. Feb. 8, and 3 p.m. Feb. 9. The Richmond Reptile Expo will take place Saturday, Feb. 8 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Richmond Raceway Complex. The expo will provide a large selection of legal and healthy reptiles and supplies in a safe and informative environment. Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for youth ages 6-11, and free for children five and under. Click here for details.
Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden will celebrate botanical tattoos at Garden Ink on Saturday, Feb. 8 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Local tattoo artists Amy Black, Dana Carlson and Ash Reid will share insights into their craft and the art of tattooing. A photography exhibit showing staff’s botanical or otherwise inspired tattoos will be hanging in the library. Artist vendors will be selling prints, embroidery, original paintings, ceramics, clothing and more. Additionally, there will be drinks, small bites, and music by DJ Bear Bonez. No tattooing will take place during the event. This is a ticketed event for ages 18 and older. Admission is $15 for Garden members, $20 for nonmembers, and $22 for walk-ups. Richmond Animal League's annual cocktail event and silent auction, Sugar & Spice, will take place Saturday, Feb. 8 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Atlas 42 in Innsbrook. The fundraiser will include live music, a silent and live auction, food, an open bar, and more. Sugar & Spice is home to the ever-popular Small Art with Big Heart auction featuring locally-made pieces of art that are typically 6x6. Richmond Animal League took in more than 1,900 cats and dogs and provided over 6,900 spay/neuter surgeries last year - feats not possible without community support. Tickets are $75. The Afro-Semitic Experience will perform at the Weinstein JCC, 5403 Monument Avenue, on Saturday, Feb. 8 at 6:30 p.m. Co-founded by African-American jazz pianist Warren Byrd and Jewish-American jazz bassist David Chevan in 1998, The Afro-Semitic Experience is a band beyond category. They perform a blend of spiritual, world-beat, funk, jazz, cantorial, gospel, salsa, and swing soul-driven music. Tickets are $10 for adults and free for children and students under age 18.
