The Clarke-Palmore House Museum will commemorate Benedict Arnold's 1781 Raid on Richmond with two days of events Jan. 3-4. Drop in throughout the day - noon to 5 p.m. Jan. 3 and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Jan. 4 - to experience life in a local Patriot militia encampment during the Revolutionary War. Learn about the local militia's defense as British troops fought their way through Henrico into Richmond. Engage with reenactors as they demonstrate how to load and fire weapons. This is the last weekend to see this holiday season's Dominion Energy GardenFest of Lights at Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden. It will be on display from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. daily through Sunday, Jan. 5. This holiday tradition featuring millions of lights was voted one of the Best Botanical Garden Holiday Lights in the U.S. by USA Today in 2023. There will be model trains in the Kelly Education Center, a warming fire in the Children's Garden, a fairy village in the Lora M. Robins Library, and other exhibits. Hot chocolate, s'mores and other beverages and treats will be available for purchase at the Carriage House. This year's theme is "Homes & Habitats: A Celebration of Connection." Actor and comedian Mark Curry, best known for his hit ABC sitcom Hangin' with Mr. Cooper, will perform at the Richmond Funny Bone in Short Pump on Jan. 3 at 7 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. and on Jan. 4 at 6:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. In addition to being a seasoned actor in both the comedy and drama spaces, Curry has a background in standup comedy and tours worldwide. The Showmasters Richmond Gun Show will take place at the Richmond Raceway Complex from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Jan. 4 and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Jan. 5. There will be 800 tables selling a diverse range of handguns, rifles, shotguns and antique pistols, as well as ammunition, holsters, safes, carbines, swords, knives, early Indian and Western Americana, militaria of all wars, coins, and more. Concealed carry classes will be offered too. Admission is $14 for adults and $7 for children ages 12-17; children under 12 are admitted free with a supervising adult. Parking is free. Shadows of the Night, a Pat Benatar tribute band, will perform at The Tin Pan, 8982 Quioccasin Road, on Saturday, Jan. 4 at 8 p.m. The band has over five years of experience capturing the essence of Benatar and Neil Giraldo.
