SB’s Lakeside Love Shack will host Halloween in the Hub, its annual trunk or treat festival, on Friday, Oct. 18 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. in The Hub Shopping Center’s parking lot, 6935 Lakeside Avenue. Participating Lakeside businesses will be offering activities and game stations, as well as treats and candy, throughout the event. Attendees also can shop at the Mystic Market, go on a scavenger hunt or enter the haunted house. There will be a dog costume contest, face painting, Finklepott’s hair fairy, raffle prizes, and music too. Food, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase from a limited menu. Admission is free for children and $5 for ages 14 and older. Click here for details.


CharacterWorks, a faith-based after-school theater program, will present "Moana Jr." at The Cultural Arts Center at Glen Allen. A musical adaptation of the 2016 Disney animated film, "Moana Jr." is a coming-of-age story that follows the strong-willed Moana as she sets sail across the Pacific to save her village and discover the truth about her heritage. The show features all the beloved songs from the film, including “How Far I’ll Go,” “Shiny,” and “You’re Welcome.”

The Wild, Wacky and Truly Wonderful Women will perform popular songs from movies at the Henrico Theatre at 7 p.m. Oct. 18-19 and at 3 p.m. Oct. 20. Selections include Footloose, The Candy Man, The Way We Were, Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head, Singin’ in the Rain, Part of Your World, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, and many more. Keep Henrico Beautiful will host the Plant NATIVE! Festival at Dorey Park on Saturday, Oct. 19 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The festival is a celebration of native plants, the ecosystems they support, and the local organizations working to protect the environment. In addition to informational organizations, there will be many vendors selling native plants and food trucks. Thanks to a grant from the Virginia Department of Forestry, there also will be a tree giveaway - 450 one-gallon potted trees will be given out on a first-come, first-served basis. One tree per household. Options are White Oak (Quercas alba), Eastern Redbud (Cercis canadensis), and Witch Hazel (Hamamelis virginiana). Admission is free. Rain or shine. Pet Memorial Parks will host a Fall Pet Fair at Crump Park on Saturday, Oct. 19 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be games and activities for pets, contests, music, vendors, and food. Admission to the fair is free but, like a real fair, dogs will use midway tickets to participate in the games and activities. Midway tickets are $2 each. Click here for details.
