The Capitol Fools, from the co-creator of The Capitol Steps and featuring an all-star cast of former Steps, will perform at The Cultural Arts Center at Glen Allen on Sept. 6 at 7 p.m. and Sept. 7 at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. The show is musical-political satire at its finest, featuring mind-boggling backward talking spoonerisms, breakneck costume changes, over-the-top impressions, and all-new song parodies reflecting the day’s news and election developments. Two comedians will perform at the Richmond Funny Bone at Short Pump Town Center this weekend: Ryan Davis (Sept. 6 at 7 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. and Sept. 7 at 6:30 p.m. and 9 p.m.) and Lucas Zelnick (Sept. 8 at 6 p.m.). A comedian out of Concord, N.C., Ryan Davis’ versatile comedy style has allowed him to open for such varied acts as Jay Pharoah of SNL, Michael Blackson of Next Friday, and Tom Green of The Tom Green Show. He is a winner of multiple comedy competitions and is best known for his online videos. NYC-based comedian Lucas Zelnick had a breakout year in 2023 - he headlined the New York Comedy Festival, taped a secret set with Don’t Tell Comedy, and taped his Comedy Central debut for Season 14 of Comedy Central Stand-Up Featuring. The Richmond Cards & Collectibles Show will take place Saturday, Sept. 7 from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at The Cultural Arts Center at Glen Allen, 2880 Mountain Road. Hosted by Pirate Dog Cards & Collectibles, the show will feature buying, selling and trading of sports cards, Pokémon cards, comic books, collectibles and more. There will be door prizes throughout the day and a portion of the proceeds will benefit the Richmond SPCA. Admission is free. Click here for details.


The inaugural Richmond International Dance Festival will be held Saturday, Sept. 7 from noon to 6 p.m. at The Steward School, 11600 Gayton Road in Henrico’s West End. In addition to a food fair and vendors, there will be youth and adult dance workshops throughout the day from Nrityageet USA (Indian), Belly Dance School of Richmond, Tidewater African Cultural Alliance, Panamanian Traditional Dance Group, and Sayaw Diversity (Philippines). These groups represent cultures from Middle and South America, Africa, the Middle East, the Pacific Islands, and South and East Asia.
