Henrico Recreation and Parks will present Gabriel and a Man Named Nat: The Fight for Freedom on Saturday, Aug. 31 from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Meadow Farm’s Parsons Community Center. Learn about the complex lives of these two men and how they both met the challenge of being enslaved in a country that said “all men are created equal.” Admission is free, and no registration is required. ZZ Top Notch, a ZZ Top tribute band, will perform at The Tin Pan on Saturday, Aug. 31 at 8 p.m. Comprised of three seasoned professionals, the group covers decades of hits from “Sharp Dressed Man” to “Legs” and “Waiting on the Bus.” They faithfully recreate the look, costumes and songs while engaging and entertaining the crowd. Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden will offer free admission to all guests during Genworth Free Community Day on Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 2 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission includes the exhibits Women’s Work: The Lee Park Collection and Flourish: 40 Years and Growing. The renovated Klaus Family Tree House is open for all to enjoy and Waterway in the Children’s Garden will be open for those looking to cool off (weather permitting).
