Adventure Camp participants will perform two musicals based on popular movies at the Henrico Theatre: “Finding Nemo Kids” on Friday, Aug. 9 and “Willy Wonka Jr.” on Saturday, Aug. 10. Performances will take place at 3:45 p.m., 5:30 p.m. and 7:15 p.m. each day. Admission is free. The Henrico Theatre is located at 305 East Nine Mile Road in Highland Springs. Players from CSz Richmond and the cast of Rocky Horror RVA will team up to present “The Time Warp” on Friday, Aug. 9 at 8 p.m. at the CSz Richmond Theater, 8906-H West Broad Street. The story is about Brad and Janet, a straight-laced midwestern couple on a road trip, who find themselves at the creepy old mansion of Dr. Frank-N-Furter when their car breaks down. Chaos ensues as they meet domestics Riff-Raff and Magenta, fan girl Columbia, and the doctor’s newest creation, Rocky Horror. CSz players will improvise the story while the cast of Rocky Horror RVA will perform the songs. The performance is for ages 18 and older. Tickets are $12. Heartfulness Meditation Center, 2230 East Parham Road, will host HeartFest 2024 on Saturday, Aug. 10 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. This family-friendly event will showcase all the RVA wellness community has to offer including yoga, pilates, heartfulness meditation, sound therapy and breathwork. There will be workshops, talks on mental health and other topics, activities for all ages, live music, food trucks, and local wellness vendors. Admission and parking are free. Historic Tuckahoe, 12601 River Road, will celebrate the 262nd birthday of Mary Randolph with an 18th-century ball on Saturday, Aug. 10 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Attendees will learn popular dances from the 18th and 19th centuries, watch an authentic minuet performed by the Colonial Dance Club of Richmond, enjoy the wizardry of an 18th century conjuror, and explore the gardens at Historic Tuckahoe, the boyhood home of Thomas Jefferson. There also will be refreshments and adult beverages and all guests will be treated to a professional portrait in the gardens. Attendees are encouraged to wear 18th or 19th century style clothing (or their Sunday best); prizes will be awarded to the best historic costumes. The Dorey Park Farmers Market will continue its "Second Saturdays" evening concert series featuring local RVA bands on Saturday, Aug. 10 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. The performer will be Mother’s Little Helpers. Gates open at 6 p.m. Bring a chair or blanket. Food, beer and other drinks will be available for purchase (no outside alcohol is permitted). Admission is free.
