Celebrate Varina and the opening day of the Dorey Park Farmers Market on Saturday, June 1 from 9 a.m. to noon. The farmer’s market will have a variety of goods to purchase from local growers and farmers, food and drink vendors, and crafters. Festivities will include bounce houses, barrel train rides, face painting, balloon animals, an antique tractor display, live music from The Taters, and more. Admission is free. In celebration of National Bounce House Day, Henrico Recreation and Parks will present Bounce House Bonanza on Saturday, June 1 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Crump Park. There will be all kinds of inflatables – from a towering slide to a whimsical obstacle course, colorful bounce houses and giant inflatable games. Admission is free. Maryland-based Saxl Rose, the newest signed member of Next Paradigm, will perform Saturday, June 1 at 8 p.m. at The Tin Pan, 8982 Quioccasin Road. The multi-instrumentalist has recorded and performed with numerous mainstream artists and bands including Wiz Khalifa, Chris Brown, Paramore, Jojo, Bobby Valentino, Neck Deep, and more. He is currently working on his debut single in the contemporary jazz format. The concert also features PJ Spraggins. Tickets are $32.50. The Illuminate Richmond Arts & Wellness Festival will take place Sunday, June 2 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Richmond Marriott Short Pump, 4240 Dominion Boulevard. The festival will feature holistic mini-sessions related to energywork, bodywork, aura photography and vetted intuitive readers, as well as shopping for crystals, essential oils, luxurious spa products, handmade jewelry and gifts, artwork and more. The Richmond Choral Society will present “RCS Swings!” at the Louis F. Ryan Recital Hall at St. Christopher’s School, 6010 Fergusson Road, on Sunday, June 2 at 4 p.m. This concert, featuring music from the 20s, 30s and 40s, will include special guests Jay Brown’s Grace Street Seven and dancers. Enjoy tunes from America’s Golden Age of Jazz and musicians Duke Ellington, Hoagy Carmichael, Irving Berlin, and others. Tickets for adults are $15 in advance and $18 at the door; seniors (60+ with valid ID) are $16 at the door and children and students (with valid ID) are $10.
