The Virginia Daffodil Society Show will take place at Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden on Saturday, March 23 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, March 24 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The show features hundreds of prize-worthy daffodils and expert growers. "The Habitual Hiker," Leonard M. Adkins, will present the multimedia program "Traversing Ancient Mountains: 2,000 Miles on the Appalachian Trail" on Saturday, March 23 from 11 a.m. to noon at Tuckahoe Library. His program depicts a typical Appalachian Trail thru hike. Adkins has hiked the entire length of the Appalachian Trail five times, a feat accomplished only by a handful of others. In addition to his award-winning book, Wildflowers of the Appalachian Trail, his most recent work, All About the Appalachian Trail, for children ages 8-12, has received the Independent Book Publishers Association Award for Young Readers in nonfiction. Books will be available for purchase and signing. The event is part of festivities in anticipation of All Henrico Reads with author Cheryl Strayed on March 28. The Weinstein JCC will host a Purim Carnival on Sunday, March 24 from noon to 3 p.m. (sensory-friendly hour is from 11 a.m. to noon). Purim is a celebration of Jewish deliverance as told in the Book of Esther. Come dressed as your favorite animal and enjoy arts and crafts, face painting, laser tag, a bounce house, and more. There also will be two juggling/magic shows by Jonathan the Juggler at 12:30 p.m. and 2 p.m. Kosher food will be available for purchase. The Lakeside Spring Fling, a local collaborative market event, will take place Sunday, March 24 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Lakeside Farmers Market. While the collaborative market is open weekly indoors, the Lakeside Spring Fling will expand into the outdoor pavilion to include even more local vendors to shop from. There also will be a spring-themed craft workshop to create something special in honor of new growth and warmth. Admission is free, open to the community and family-friendly.
