Susan Greenbaum will perform at the Henrico Theatre in Highland Springs on Friday, March 15 at 7 p.m. After working as a corporate executive in Fortune 500 companies, Greenbaum traded her power suits for performing and committed the first sin of musicians – she quit her day job. Greenbaum is a mainstay at the Henrico Theatre and the recipient of several songwriting awards. Tickets are $10; only a few seats remain. Crossroads Art Center, 2016 Staples Mill Road, will host its March 2024 Open House + Artist Reception on Friday, March 15 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Exhibitions include “Liminal Spaces” by Annie Boyer, Faith Ku and Clarissa Yeap; “Nature & Coalescence” by the James River Art League; and the popular Juried All-Media Show. The Richmond Showmasters Gun Show will be held at the Richmond Raceway Complex from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mar. 16 and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mar. 17. Vendors at approximately 800 tables will sell, buy or trade guns, swords, knives, decoys, hunting supplies, reloading supplies and components, ammo, books, militaria and more. There also will be free 15-minute gun cleaning seminars, concealed carry classes, and other workshops. The Henrico Theatre, 305 East Nine Mile Road, is celebrating the Academy Awards all month long and will show three different award-winning movies this weekend: "Soul" at 3 p.m. March 16, "The Whale" at 8 p.m. March 16, and "Encanto" at 3 p.m. March 17. The Richmond Philharmonic Orchestra will present “Fantastic Firsts” on Sunday, Mar. 17 at 4 p.m. at St. Christopher’s School Arts Center, 711 St. Christopher’s Road. The performance will feature the first written piece from composers Beethoven, Bruch and Shostakovich. Daisuke Yamamoto, the concertmaster for the Richmond Symphony Orchestra, will be a guest performer for the Bruch piece.
