The Henrico Theatre Company will pay tribute to American icon Burt Bacharach at The Cultural Arts Center at Glen Allen at 7 p.m. Jan. 26, 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. Jan. 27, and at 3 p.m. Jan. 28. Bacharach was an American composer, songwriter, record producer and pianist. Starting in the 1950s, he composed hundreds of pop songs, many in collaboration with lyricist Hal David. Popular songs will be performed including “This Guy’s in Love with You,” “Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head,” “Walk On By,” “Do You Know the Way to San Jose” and many more. Tickets are $20. Eastern Henrico Recreation Center will host a “Paint and Sip” event for ages 18 and older on Friday, Jan. 26 from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Adults in need of a night out will enjoy painting, sparkling juice and fun. Henrico County Public Library in partnership with Keep Henrico Beautiful will continue its Land Lover Series with a program titled "Living with Black Bears." Learn about these animals, some of their natural history, why and when you might see one, and how to protect property from their antics at Fairfield Library on Saturday, Jan. 27 from 11 a.m. to noon. Presented by the Riverine Chapter of the Virginia Master Naturalists as a joint project with the Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources. Admission is free. The Springs Recreation Center, 302 Lee Avenue, will celebrate National LEGO Day with a free community event on Sunday, Jan. 28 from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Commemorate the anniversary of when the creator of LEGO filed for a patent in Denmark. Bluegrass musician and banjo player Tony Trischka will perform a tribute to Earl Scruggs at The Tin Pan on Sunday, Jan. 28 at 7 p.m. Trischka recently came into possession of rare recordings of jam sessions with Scruggs (a pioneer of the three-finger banjo style and one of the most important musicians in bluegrass) and John Hartford, and he’s transcribed and recorded Scruggs’ note-for-note solos from a number of these. Many of these songs Scruggs had never recorded. An album of this music is in production. During the concert, dubbed EarlJam, Trischka and his band (Michael Daves on vocals and guitar, Alex Hargreaves on fiddle, and Jared Engel on bass) will trace Scruggs’ story from his childhood to his final years.
