Volunteers from the Heartfulness Institute will lead a workshop on "Exploring the Spiritual Anatomy" at Glen Allen Library on Saturday, Jan. 13 from 10:30 a.m. to noon. Kamlesh D. Patel's recently released book "Spiritual Anatomy: Meditation, Chakras, and the Journey to the Center" will be discussed, as well as the role of chakras and their importance in spiritual well-being. The program “Pickling and Preserving: The Science of Surviving the Winter” will take place Sunday, Jan. 14 from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Meadow Farm’s Parsons Community Center. In modern times, pickling, smoking and drying are ways to enhance the culinary quality of dishes. But these methods were invented as a means of survival to safely store food for less abundant times.
