This is the final weekend to see Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden’s Dominion Energy GardenFest of Lights. The annual event features millions of lights, botanical decorations, model trains, and more. This year’s theme is “Rhythms of Nature.” Tickets are $8 to $17 for non-members and $7 to $10 for members (children under three are free). Tickets can only be purchased online in advance. The Shady Grove Coffeehouse at the Unitarian Universalist Community Church, 11105 Cauthorne Road in Glen Allen, will present “From China to Appalachia” on Saturday, Jan. 6 at 8 p.m. The concert features Grammy Award-winning American Roots artists Cathy Fink and Marcy Marxer who will be joined by Chinese classical hammered dulcimer player Chao Tian in a show that combines music from China to Appalachia and beyond. Instrumentation includes yangqin (Chinese hammered dulcimer), gourd banjo, five-string banjo, ukulele, guitars, dumbek, cello-banjo and mandolin. Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 at the door; teens 13-18 are admitted at half price and children 12 and under are free. Eight-time Grammy Award nominee Gerald Albright will perform Sunday, Jan. 7 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. at The Tin Pan, 8982 Quioccasin Road. Albright launched his solo career in the infancy of what became the smooth jazz format with his debut album, “Just Between Us,” in 1987. He has been a core part of the genre since, with chart-topping albums, countless radio hits and as a member of many all-star tours, including Guitars & Saxes and Groovin’ For Grover. Tickets are $75.
