The Central Virginia Dance Academy will present a full production of the two-act ballet “The Nutcracker” at The Cultural Arts Center at Glen Allen on Dec. 15 at 6:30 p.m., Dec. 16 at 2 p.m. and 6:30 p.m., and on Dec. 17 at 6:30 p.m. Performed by CVDA students and three guest artists, Ronald Wagstaff, Joe Seaton and Misha Nikitine. The story of Clara and her nutcracker takes place on Christmas Eve and continues through Clara’s magical dream of mice, snowflakes, dancing flowers, and sugar plum fairies. Tickets are $21. The Concert Ballet of Virginia will present its 47th annual production of “The Nutcracker” at 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. Dec. 16 and at 2:30 p.m. Dec. 17 at J.R. Tucker High School, 2910 North Parham Road. The Concert Ballet’s production is Virginia’s longest-running version of this holiday classic, and it was rated “Richmond’s Best” by North of the James Magazine. Henrico Recreation and Parks will mark the 250th anniversary of the Boston Tea Party with family-friendly crafts and interactive activities at Walkerton Tavern on Saturday, Dec. 16 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Travel back in time to 1773 in Boston when colonists threw chests of tea into the harbor to protest British laws. Patrick Henry, his daughter, British soldiers, and Loyalist- and Patriot-leaning colonists will share their thoughts. Sample the same types of tea that were dumped overboard as well as some sweets. The Weinstein JCC will present “Cabaret” at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 16 and at 2 p.m. Dec. 17. “Cabaret” explores the dark and heady life of bohemian Berlin as Germany slowly yields to the emerging Third Reich. Originally produced in 1961 with music by John Kander and lyrics by Fred Ebb, “Cabaret” is the winner of 8 Tony Awards, including Best Musical and Best Composer/Lyricist. The Lakeside’s Local Maker’s Market: Holiday Edition will take place Sunday, Dec. 17 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Lakeside Farmers’ Market, 6110 Lakeside Avenue.
