The Henrico Theatre Company will present Irving Berlin’s musical “Holiday Inn” by Chad Hodge and Gordon Greenberg Nov. 10-11 at 8 p.m. and Nov. 12 at 3 p.m. at The Cultural Arts Center at Glen Allen. Jim leaves the bright lights of show business behind to settle down on his farmhouse in Connecticut where he quickly discovers life isn’t the same with a bit of song and dance. Jim’s luck takes a spectacular turn when he meets Linda, a spirited schoolteacher with talent to spare. Together they turn the farmhouse into a fabulous inn with dazzling performances to celebrate each holiday, from Thanksgiving to the Fourth of July. But when Jim’s best friend, Ted, tries to lure Linda away to be his new dance partner in Hollywood, will Jim be able to salvage his latest chance at love? The Richmond Showmasters Gun Show will be held at Richmond Raceway from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Nov. 11 and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Nov. 12. Vendors at approximately 800 tables will sell, buy or trade guns, swords, knives, decoys, hunting supplies, reloading supplies and components, ammo, books, militaria and more. There also will be free 15 minute gun cleaning seminars and other classes. Admission is $13; children ages 12-17 are $7 and children under 12 are admitted free with a supervising adult. Frogtown Mountain Puppeteers will present “The Headless Horseman of Sleepy Hollow” on Sunday, Nov. 12 at 3 p.m. at the Henrico Theatre in Highland Springs. In this comedic version of the classic Washington Irving tale, “The Headless Horseman of Sleepy Hollow,” schoolteacher Ichabod Crane helps the Headless Horseman find a new head and a spookier image. Meanwhile, a jealous Brom Bones tries to run Ichabod out of town as they both vie for the affection of Katrina Van Tassel. In the end, the Horseman saves the day, and everyone lives happily ever after. This production by the Frogtown Mountain Puppeteers – three siblings out of Bar Harbor, Maine – features 20 of their hand-crafted mouth and rod puppets, as well as some shadow puppetry. Comedian, actor, writer and producer Nick Swardson will perform at the Richmond Funny Bone in Short Pump Town Center on Sunday, Nov. 12 at 6 p.m. Swardson has found success on the live stage as well as in TV and movies. He has appeared in films "The Wrong Missy," "Sandy Wexler," "The Do Over," and "The Ridiculous Six," among many others. He also was co-creator, co-executive producer, co-writer and star of the Comedy Central web series, "Typical Rick." Doors open at 4:45 p.m. Tickets are $42. Terence Blanchard will present “Fire Shut Up in My Bones” on Sunday, Nov. 12 at 7:30 p.m. in Camp Concert Hall at the University of Richmond’s Modlin Center for the Arts. In 2021, Blanchard’s “Fire Shut Up in My Bones” was the first opera by a Black composer performed at the Metropolitan Opera. Based on Charles M. Blow’s harrowing memoir, this powerful musical exploration of race, sexuality and identity offers a rare opportunity to hear the composer performing an intimate concert version of his own work. Blanchard is a jazz trumpeter and winner of seven Grammy Awards and two Oscar nominations. A pre-show artist talk with Blanchard and Modlin’s Executive Director Paul Brohan will take place from 6:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tickets are $30 to $50 for adults, $10 for youth and students and $5 for UR students.
