SEPT 6The film “Avengers: Endgame” (2019, PG-13, 181 minutes) will play at 7 p.m. Sept. 6 and at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Sept. 7 at the Henrico Theatre in Highland Springs. St. Michael’s Catholic Church, 4491 Springfield Road, will hold its 16th annual Community Rummage Sale from 7 a.m. to noon. Items for sale include new and gently used baby items, toys, sporting goods, furniture, housewares, clothing, linens, books and more. A workshop on Laughter Yoga will take place from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Libbie Mill Library. The laughter leader will discuss the history of laughter yoga and its physical and psychological benefits and then guide participants through a series of laughter exercises and deep breathing. Country group Little Big Town will perform at Innsbrook After Hours at 6 p.m. Little Big Town – consisting of members Karen Fairchild, Kimberly Schlapman, Phillip Sweet,and Jimi Westbrook – entered the music scene over 18 years ago with hits like “Boondocks,” “Bring It On Home,” “Good As Gone” and “Little White Church.” In the past seven years they have won over 20 awards from GRAMMY, CMA, ACM and People’s Choice, as well as an Emmy. The Cameron K. Gallagher Foundation’s SpeakUp5k Richmond event will be held from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Byrd Park, 1001 Blanton Avenue. SpeakUp5k Richmond is the flagship event of the SpeakUp5k Race Series. Inspired by Cameron Gallagher, who died in 2014 after completing a half-marathon, the race aims to shed light on mental illness in a positive and active way. Richmond Raceway will kick off its September NASCAR playoff race month with the third annual Checkered Flag race at 8:30 a.m. Runners have the option to run in the 10K, 5K or one-mile Kids Run. Races will start and finish on the historic Richmond Raceway Start/Finish Line. All race participants will receive a Checkered Flag 10K t-shirt and medal. The Henrico Historical Society will hold its third quarter meeting at 2:30 p.m. at Libbie Mill Library. John Hoogakker will present “Development of University of Richmond's Westhampton Campus.” The effort to relocate the UR campus from its downtown location began in 1910 with the commissioning of a renowned Collegiate Gothic architect who designed the new campus on the site of the former Westhampton Amusement Park. Hoogakker’s program will cover the original commission, subsequent development and future plans. Today, approximately 20 percent of the campus exists within Henrico.
