Jurassic Adventure will take place at Richmond Raceway from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Aug. 17 and from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Aug. 18. The main exhibit features 50 life-size ultra-realistic dinosaurs in their natural habitat, including a new Ice Age exhibit highlighting the saber-toothed tiger. There will also be a wide variety of fun and educational activities for all ages, including fossil digs, a dinosaur band, bounce houses, virtual reality and dinosaur rides, and more. Endorphin Fitness and Live Red Foundation will again partner with the Virginia Home for Boys and Girls to host the 8th annual Youth Triathlon. The race is open to boys and girls ages 5-14 and features a pool swim, bike course, and a run on level playing fields on VHBG’s 30+ acre campus in Henrico. All race fee donations will benefit VHBG. To prepare kids for the event, Endorphin Fitness will offer an optional four-day youth triathlon camp, which will be held at VHBG Monday through Thursday prior to Saturday’s race. Henrico Schools will host its second annual divisionwide Back-to-School Kickoff at Dorey Park from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. In addition to music, food trucks and school performances, there will be an information fair, free books for all ages, giveaways, dance contests, help with Schoology and Powerschool, math and reading activities, a HCPS job fair, onsite school registration and more. Henrico Police will provide rabies vaccines for dogs and cats from 9 a.m. to noon at the Henrico County Government Center, 4301 E. Parham Rd. Pet owners must register and pay at the cashier’s office in the Administration Building before seeing a veterinarian on the first level of the adjacent parking deck. Each vaccine costs $10 and must be paid in cash. A rabies tag and certificate of inoculation are included. Pets from all localities are welcome. Henrico dog licenses will be available for $10.
