AUG 9The 2019 Filipino Festival will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 8200 Woodman Road, from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Aug. 9 and from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Aug. 10. Now in its 14th year, the festival features traditional Filipino cuisine, live bands, colorful cultural and contemporary dances, crafts and games for kids, Zumba, line dancing, vendors and more. Items for sale include clothing (all seasons, sizes newborn to older teen), shoes, Halloween costumes, Cotillion attire, toys, books, games, baby equipment and furniture, maternity wear and more. Shop the latest products, speak with guides and outfitters, participate in seminars and meet celebrity hunters. There will also be a trophy deer competition, the Virginia State Turkey Calling Contest, food, duck decoy painting for kids and a BB gun range. Admission is $5 to $10; ages 16 and under are free. Beyond Boundaries, a Richmond-based non-profit specializing in guiding participants with disabilities on outdoor adventures, will present RVA RIMBY – “Right in My Back Yard” – at Libbie Mill—Midtown from noon to 5 p.m. The inaugural adventure festival features an archery range, Segway and electric bike rides, a fly casting demo, fish and reptile encounters, a bike repair station and outdoor gear demos. There will also be live music by East of Blue Ridge, food and drinks, local beers and a BBQ competition. Admission is free and Beyond Boundaries will be accepting donations. Celebrate National Farmers Market Week at Lakeside Farmers’ Market from 8 a.m. to noon. A variety of vendors will be offering locally-grown produce, meats, eggs, honey, cheeses and hand-crafted items. Free temporary tattoos will be available for kids. Country singer-songwriter Cody Jinks will play Virginia Credit Union Live! at Richmond Raceway at 8 p.m. He will be joined by special guests Ward Davis and Josh Morningstar. Jinks first emerged as a solo artist in the mid-2000s. His 2016 release “I’m Not the Devil” hit No. 4 on Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart. His latest release is “Lifers.” Tickets start at $25. The first-ever “Henrico Has Talent!” talent show will take place at the Dorey Park Farmers Market from 10 a.m. to noon. Henrico’s annual family-friendly event, Bugstock, will take place from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Dorey Park. Return to the 1960s for a groovy afternoon of tie-dye, flower power and Volkswagon Bugs and Buses. In addition to 60s music, games and food trucks, there will be a cruise in and show.
