The musical comedy is about a boy, a girl, their fathers (who try to keep them apart) and a love that grows each season. “The Fantasticks” is the longest-running musical in the world and was first performed by HTC in 1985. Inspired by the events of The Little Rock Nine, “Polkadots” follows 8-year-old Lily Polkadot, the first Polkadot to attend school in the “Squares Only” small town of Rockaway. Lily and her new friend Sky, a shy Square boy who appreciates her for her unique polkadot skin, prove that individual differences don’t make you weird or wrong, they make you awesome. The 2019 Summer Concert Series at Henrico Theatre continues with The Honky Tonk Experience from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased in advance at www.henricolive.com.


The Quebe Sisters will perform at 8 p.m. at The Tin Pan, 8982 Quioccasin Road. The Quebe Sisters – Grace, Sophia and Hulda – have delivered their authentic triple-fiddle and three-part harmony sound to concert halls and festivals for more than 15 years. The Dallas-based Progressive Western Swing band features a unique Americana blend of western swing, jazz-influenced swing, country, Texas-style fiddling and western music. Certified child safety seat technicians from Henrico County Police Department will be at Varina Library from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to offer drive thru safety seat inspections. The seat should be fully installed in the vehicle. A new Virginia law takes effect July 1 that requires children to ride in rear-facing child safety seats until age two or until they reach the minimum weight limit for a forward-facing child restraint device (as noted by the device’s manufacturer). Wilton House Museum will present Jammin’ on the James, a monthly summer concert series, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Enjoy family-friendly music on the scenic terrace overlooking the James River. Intermission Beer Company, 10089 Brook Road near Virginia Center Commons, will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Commonwealth’s slogan, Virginia is for Lovers, with a Home Grown Comedy Show from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. This showcase of Virginia standup comics includes Winston Hodges, Liz Carrnage, Alida Harper, Joshua Sekani French, Heather Joyce and more.
