ComedySportz pits two teams of professional players against each other in an improv battle for laughs and points as they make up scenes and songs on the spot based off audience suggestions. Meadow Farm Museum will present “History in Focus: A Series” on select Saturdays from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. All ages are invited to explore historical topics in detail with staff-led specialty tours. Today’s topic is Weather Patterns of Long Ago – explore the surviving documentation of the weather patterns in Henrico County during the Jeffersonian era and the impact they had on farmers, livestock, and the local citizens. The 2019 Innsbrook Taste of Virginia will be held from 3:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at the Innsbrook Pavilion. Taste of Virginia is a family-friendly food festival showcasing delicious dishes from local restaurants, each competing for the honorary “Taste of Virginia” title, as well as awards for other significant categories. Enjoy live music by Three Sheets to the Wind, Soul Expressions and Main Street Station. There will also be craft beer and Virginia wines, a kid’s zone with moon bounces and games, and a fireworks finale. Proceeds benefit Operation Healing Forces. Midas of Richmond—Short Pump, 11463 W. Broad Street, will join Midas locations in Richmond and Colonial Heights in hosting a blood drive from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. in an effort to engage the company’s 24,000th blood donor. For more than 15 years, Midas of Richmond has held blood drives every 56 days. CharacterWorks, a Christian youth theatre program, will present “Les Miserables School Edition” July 6-7 at The Steward School, 11600 Gayton Road. The musical is based on the 1862 novel of the same name by French poet and novelist Victor Hugo. “Les Miserables School Edition” is CharacterWorks’ 2019 summer Masters Camp production, performed by a cast of high school students at the conclusion of a two-week camp. The Dorey Park Farmers Market will operate every Saturday June through October from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The market features local farmers and artisans selling a variety of fresh produce, baked goods, honey, eggs and locally-made items. The Cultural Arts Center at Glen Allen will present a Sunday Brunch Market from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The market will provide opportunities to shop a variety of farmers’ market and arts market vendors, relax on a picnic blanket on the grass, and enjoy lunch with the family. The event will also include art activities for the kids and live entertainment. Sunday Brunch Markets will continue the first Sunday of each month through November 3.
