Born Nathaniel Stroman, Earthquake was a former enlisted sergeant for the U.S. Air Force. After a chance performance at a local talent show, Earthquake became a formidable talent of the mid-90s explosion of televised urban comedy programming from BET and HBO. The film “Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation” (2018, PG, 97 minutes) will play at 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. at the Henrico Theatre in Highland Springs. Count Dracula and company participate in a cruise for sea-loving monsters, unaware that their boat is being commandeered by the monster-hating Van Helsing family. Tickets and concessions are $1 each. The Heartfulness Meditation Center, 2230 E. “Remembering World War II: A Series” continues at Belmont Recreation Center from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. The topic for June will be “Rags to Riches, The Story of Audie Murphy.” Born to a poor family in Texas, Murphy joined the army after the attack on Pearl Harbor. He earned 33 awards for his service, making him the most decorated American soldier of World War II. After the war, Murphy became an actor and made 44 feature films. Admission is free. The Weinstein Jewish Community Center Swill host the Israeli Festival from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Experience “Everything Israel” – including food, culture, history and entertainment. The Israeli Friendship Caravan, a group of 10 high school-aged students who travel throughout the U.S. performing Israeli songs and dances, will perform at 11 a.m. There also will be camel rides and Krav Maga. The Weinstein Jewish Community Center will present the Second Stage performance of “Hairspray, Jr.” at 7 p.m. This family-friendly musical is about one girl’s inspiring dream to dance and change the world. A Tony Award-winner for Best Broadway Musical, “Hairspray, Jr.” celebrates diversity with positive messages and humor. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for children under 18.
