MAY 10Le Hotclub will perform at the Henrico Theatre from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Their style of music, made popular in the 1930s, is known as “gypsy jazz.” The concert will display energetic dance music that has the unmistakable gypsy sound, including jazz standards, original compositions and their own arrangements of traditional gypsy folk songs. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased in advance at www.henricolive.com. *** Godwin High School’s Short Pump Players will present “Into the Woods” at 7 p.m. May 10 and at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. May 11 at the school, 2101 Pump Road. James Lapine and Stephen Sondheim take everyone's favorite storybook characters and bring them together in this Tony Award-winning musical. Follow Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Jack (of the beanstalk fame) and the Baker and his wife as they discover the power of wishes and what really happens after they come true. The Deep Run High School Band Art Auction will be held from 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at Deep Run HS, 4801 Twin Hickory Road. Professional gallery artwork will be available at 50 percent off gallery prices. The event will include door prizes and raffles, musical performances and complimentary food and beverages. Single tickets are $15; the cost for two tickets is $25. Students are free. All proceeds benefit the Deep Run Band program. The Virginia Capital Trail Foundation will hold its annual bike ride fundraiser and outreach event “Cap2Cap” at Dorey Park. The family-friendly ride will feature four distances: seven miles, 23 miles, 52 miles and 100 miles. The post-ride party, which is open to cyclists and the general public, will include food trucks, beer, live bands and a vendor expo. This year’s ride is organized in partnership with Henrico's Recreation and Parks department. Walk-up registration will start at 6:30 a.m. The non-competitive bike ride serves as the largest annual fundraiser for VCTF and hosts nearly 1,800 cyclists. The Richmond Bubble Run will be held at Richmond Raceway. Participants can run, walk, dance and play across three miles of colored suds. Foam bogs will be encountered along the course where foam can be anywhere from 4-7 feet deep. First-timers to seasoned competitors are welcome. The Virginia Flaggers will host a Confederate Memorial Day Service at 11 a.m. at Oakwood Cemetery. The service will include a processional, music by Pipe Major David Hinton, a Confederate Color and Honor Guard, special guests and a wreath-laying ceremony. The keynote speaker will be Fred Taylor. Attendees in period attire wishing to participate in the processional through the cemetery should arrive by 10:30 a.m. The event is free and open to the public. Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden will offer special activities for Mother’s Day weekend, May 11-12. Children are invited to participate in “make-and-takes” for mom (cards and a tissue paper flower) in the Children’s Garden from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nosegay flower bouquets will be available to purchase in the Rose Garden. On Sunday, Glennroy Bailey will perform at the Bloemendaal House from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Guests are welcome to bring blankets or lawn chairs to the concert; no outside food or drinks permitted. James River Cellars Winery, 11008 Washington Highway in Glen Allen, will host Mommapalooza! from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. May 11 and from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. May 12. In honor of Mother’s Day, there will be special drinks including Mom-Pelier Blush and Mom-itor, as well as a strawberry shortcake pairing. Entertainment will be provided by Paige Melton on Saturday and Josh Walker on Sunday. Food trucks will be onsite both days. Admission is free. Standard tasting fee is $10; half price for moms. Gallmeyer Farms will host the 2nd Annual Mother’s Day Festival at The Berry Patch, 3633 Darbytown Court, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. In addition to eight acres of pick-your-own strawberries, there will be free hayrides, pony rides ($5), crafters and local businesses, food vendors, a coloring station for kids and more. “Remembering World War II: A Series” continues at Belmont Recreation Center from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. The topic for May will be “D-Day.” General Jack Mountcastle, military historian, will present “A Mighty Endeavor: The Liberation of Europe, 1944” about Operation OVERLORD, the code name for the invasion of Normandy, France. Discover the story behind the combined naval, air, and land assault by Allied Forces and how this plan affected the U.S. and the world. Admission is free. For ages 13 and older. Tuckahoe Plantation, 12601 River Road, will host a Mother’s Day Peony Picnic from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. Bring a picnic lunch to enjoy on the grounds, tour the historic plantation home and view the gardens. Gelati Celesti Ice Cream Truck will be selling sweet treats. Peonies will be available for $5 per stem with complimentary greenery from the grounds (limit two per person). Admission starts at $5.
