HTC first performed this comedy by Joseph Kesselring in 1997. “Arsenic and Old Lace” will introduce the audience to sweet old spinster aunts who populate their cellar with the remains of gentlemen roomers; the antics of their brother who thinks he’s Teddy Roosevelt; and the other brother who is eerily similar to Boris Karloff. The Shady Grove Coffeehouse will conclude its 18th season with a concert by singer-songwriter John Gorka at 8 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Community Church, 11105 Cauthorne Road in Glen Allen. Since winning the Kerrville new folk competition in 1984, Gorka has produced 11 albums. Many well-known artists have recorded and/or performed his songs including Mary Chapin Carpenter, Nanci Griffth, Mary Black and Maura O’Connell. Henricus Historical Park will present the second “HenROCKus: Bands & Brews on the James River Bluff” from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Bring lawn chairs and enjoy beer, wine and food while listening to local bands. Sunday Brunch Markets will return to The Cultural Arts Center at Glen Allen beginning May 5 and continuing the first Sunday of each month through November 3. The markets will provide opportunities to shop a variety of farmers’ market and arts market vendors, relax on a picnic blanket on the grass, and enjoy lunch with the family. The Richmond Philharmonic will present “Cinco de Mayo: A Salute to Mexico!” at 4 p.m. at The Collegiate School, 103 N. Mooreland Road. The concert will include a full lineup of works by Mexican composers, as well as Copland's “El Salón México.” The Latin Ballet of Virginia will join the orchestra with original choreography on several pieces.
