MAR 15The Henrico Division of Recreation and Parks will present the first in its two-part Adventure Series from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the Henrico County Administrative Board Room at 4301 E. Parham Road. The topic will be “Jambalaya Journey.” Local blues player Andrew Alli will share his 1,000-mile, 24-day journey from RVA to New Orleans on a bicycle. For ages 12 and older. Saint Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, 4491 Springfield Road, will host its 3rd annual Bluegrass Concert Series. The series features a monthly concert December through April from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tonight’s performer is Nothin’ Fancy. Tickets are $17 in advance and $22 at the door. The Cultural Arts Center at Glen Allen will host an opening reception for the exhibit “The Eyes of Youth” from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. This unique exhibit features works by Henrico County students who have participated in three of the Center’s youth outreach programs: Henrico PAL after school program, the James River Juvenile Detention Center, and the Henrico Schools’ summer SNAPS program. Innsbrook will host its 10th Annual St. Paddy’s Palooza from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Innsbrook Pavilion. The festival features authentic bagpipers performing traditional Irish hymns, live bands, local craft vendors, food and festive green beverages, a hot air balloon cave and a KidsZone with pony rides, face painting, a bouncy house and petting zoo. The palooza also will showcase brave volunteers shaving their heads to go bald for a good cause – the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, a nonprofit that raises funds to help find cures for cancer that affect children. The Richmond Reptile Expo will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Richmond Raceway. The show features hundreds of reptiles, feeders and supplies for sale or trade. “Remembering World War II: A Series” continues at Belmont Recreation Center from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. The topic for March will be “The Monuments Men” – a group of dedicated service members tasked with protecting cultural objects and historic buildings from damage and theft during WWII. The Weinstein JCC, 5403 Monument Avenue, will host a Community-Wide Purim Carnival from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The event will have carnival games and prizes, a DJ costume party, moon bounces, face painting, arts and crafts, food and more. There also will be opportunities to give back to the community through an organized tikkun olam project. All games and activities are free; food available for purchase. St. Mary Catholic Church, 9505 Gayton Road, will present “Songs from The Emerald Isle,” a concert on St. Patrick's Day celebrating the music of Ireland, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. The concert will feature soprano Anne O’Byrne and pianist David Fisk, who is executive director of the Richmond Symphony.
