Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden will present the Dominion Energy GardenFest of Lights from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Dec. 21-23. This year’s theme, “Bringing Art to Light,” will explore how well-known works of art are inspired by nature. The annual event features one million lights, botanical decorations, model trains, holiday dinners, family activities and more. Final Gravity Brewing Company, 6118 Lakeside Avenue, will host T-Rexmas CaROARling in Lakeside from 11 a.m. to noon. Anyone with an inflatable or DIY dinosaur costume (any species) is invited to meet in the back parking lot for caroling around Lakeside Avenue. The group will visit Lakeside Farmers Market, Lakeside Volunteer Rescue Squad, Fire Station 5, SB’s Lakeside Love Shack and Virginia BBQ Lakeside and return to Final Gravity for refreshments. Bill Kirchen will present his annual Honky Tonk Holiday Show at 8 p.m. at The Tin Pan, 8982 Quioccasin Road. Virginia Repertory Theatre will present “Mr. Popper’s Penguins” at 2 p.m. Dec. 22-23 at The Children’s Theatre at Willow Lawn. Based on the popular children’s book by Richard and Florence Atwater, “Mr. Popper’s Penguins” tells the story of a British house painter, with a fondness for Antarctic exploration, who finds himself and his family the proud domesticators of a family of penguins.
