Based on the 1967 novel by Lady Joan Lindsay, “Picnic at Hanging Rock” explores the disappearance of a group of Australian schoolgirls during a Valentine’s Day outing in 1900 and how the loss has affected the school and small countryside community. Vintage, shabby, rustic, French Country, industrial and farmhouse chic dealers and artisans will showcase their treasured finds and creations. VIP Preview Shopping Night on Nov. 16 will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. In addition to early bird shopping, there will be live music, beer and wine tasting, and free admission the following day. Set in turn-of-the century New York City, “Newsies” is the rousing tale of Jack Kelly, a charismatic newsboy and leader of a band of teenaged “newsies.” When titans of publishing raise distribution prices at the newsboys’ expense, Jack rallies newsies from across the city to strike against the unfair conditions. Church of the Redeemer will hold its 37th Annual Craft Bazaar from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The bazaar will feature more than 120 craft vendors and a bake sale, as well as Santa Claus and a Santa Shop, door prizes and raffles. Bring a can of non-perishable food for a bonus door prize ticket. Breakfast and lunch will be available for purchase. Saint Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, 4491 Springfield Road, will host its 3rd annual Bluegrass Concert Series. The 8th annual ASK 5K Donut Run, presented by Dunkin’ Donuts, will take place from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at St. Christopher's School, 711 St. Christopher's Road. The family-friendly 5K run/walk will wind through the St. Christopher’s campus and neighborhood. All registered participants will enjoy munchkins along the course, a donut finish with coffee and hot chocolate, t-shirt, finisher's medal and Dunkin' Donuts coupons and swag. The 37th annual Capital of the Confederacy Civil War Show will take place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Nov. 17 and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 18 at Richmond Raceway. The show will feature 350 tables offering a wide variety of firearms and related equipment for shooters, collectors and Civil War and militia enthusiasts, all in a family-friendly environment.
