The musical comedy “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee” will take place at 7 p.m. Sept. 21-22 at Godwin High School, 2101 Pump Road. Admission is free, but donations will be accepted for the Wounded Warrior Project. There also will be raffle prizes each night with proceeds benefiting the Wounded Warrior Project. Richmond Family Magazine and Saxon Shoes will host RFM Story Time at Saxon Shoes, 11800 West Broad Street, Suite 2750, from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. The event will feature local storyteller Joan Tupponce and local children's book author Angie Miles, who will read her book Short Pump Bump. It is free and open to the public.


Henrico County Master Gardeners will present the Pollinator Plant Festival from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Short Pump Park to highlight the importance of birds, bees, butterflies and other pollinators and to explain the plants that will attract them to a garden. Beth Farmer, owner of GardenGate Landscape & Design, will give a presentation on plants for pollinators at 2 p.m. and will have plants available for sale. The presentation is free to attend, but registration is requested by calling 501-5160. Plants, gently-used garden equipment, garden-themed items, garden gloves and other items also will be for sale with proceeds benefiting the Master Gardeners and Junior Master Gardeners. NAMIWalks Virginia 2018 will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Innsbrook, 4951 Lake Brook Dr. NAMIWalks is a family-friendly event where participants can celebrate recovery and connect with others who have been impacted by mental illness. In addition to the 5K, there will be a Celebration Zone with games, face painting and a bounce house, exhibitors, music and pizza for sale after the walk ($1 per slice). Henrico Live will continue its fifth season with The English Channel at 7 p.m. at the Henrico Theatre, 305 E. Nine Mile Rd. in Highland Springs. The English Channel will present an all-new version of their concert experience “AM/FM Hits of the British Invasion Decade,” featuring popular Brit rock and pop tunes performed just like the original recordings. Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden will host Rhythm & Blooms, an evening of music and cocktails to benefit Ginter Urban Gardeners, a program which helps to create more green space and build community in urban Richmond. The event will begin at 6 p.m., after the Garden closes to the public, and end at 10:30 p.m. Tickets are $100 and include gourmet hors d’oeuvres, beer, wine, craft drinks, live jazz soul music, dancing, and a silent auction. Henrico County will host Time Travelers Weekend, an opportunity to time-travel through Henrico history by visiting the county’s historic sites. From noon to 4 p.m. Sept. 22-23, citizens may visit the following sites free of charge: Clarke-Palmore House Museum, 904 McCoul Street; Dabbs House Museum, 3812 Nine Mile Road; Courtney Road Gas Station, 3401 Mountain Road; Meadow Farm Museum, 3400 Mountain Road; Virginia Randolph Museum, 2175 Mountain Road; and Walkerton Tavern, 2892 Mountain Road. Christ Church Episcopal, 5000 Pouncey Tract Road, will hold its Fall Children’s Consignment Sale. Items for sale include gently used and new kid’s clothing, toys, books, DVDs, sports equipment, baby items, bikes and more. Hours are 7:30 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. The sale will close from 11:30 a.m. to noon and then reopen with select items at half-off from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. and select items at 75 percent off from 1:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. Only cash and checks accepted. Innsbrook After Hours will present Alison Krauss, with special guest Levi Hummon, at the SERVPRO of Richmond Pavilion. Krauss’ new album “Windy City” features 10 classic songs that she carefully selected with producer Buddy Cannon. Her album in 2011 with longtime collaborators Union Station, 2011’s “Paper Airplane,” won the Grammy Award for Best Bluegrass Album and topped Billboard’s folk, country and bluegrass charts. Final Gravity, 6118 Lakeside Avenue, will host its 3rd Anniversary Celebration from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. In the large parking lot in the back there will be food from Pizza Nostra RVA, Charm City Crab Cakes and Gaucho, plus guest taps from local and regional breweries and special Final Gravity Anniversary brews. Innsbrook’s Richmond Corporate Games 2018 will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Dominion Energy Field at 5000 Dominion Boulevard. The games are Olympics-themed this year and consist of volleyball, canoe relay, obstacle challenge, 500-yard relay, zany relay and tug of war. Proceeds will benefit Special Olympics Virginia.
