West Broad Village will host Family Movies on the Lawn – tonight’s featured film is “Coco” (2017, PG, 109 min.). The movie will start at 9 p.m. at The Pad, 2301 Old Brick Rd., near Aloft. Intermission Beer Company, 10089 Brook Rd., will host a One Year Anniversary Bash from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Aug. 31 and from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sept. 1. Friday will feature Firesides Food Truck, the release of Honey Hibiscus Saison beer and music by The Robert Elwood Revival. Saturday will feature Thandie Catering LLC, the release of Virginia Center Common beer and music by The Spiral Light Band. The Richmond Funny Bone, located at Short Pump Town Center, will present comedian John Henton at 7:30 p.m. and 10 p.m. Aug. 31, 7 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. Sept. 1 and at 7 p.m. Sept. 2. Born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio, Henton moved to Los Angeles in 1985 and three years later started his stand-up career full time. He found success on the small screen as Overton Wakefield Jones on the FOX hit sitcom “Living Single” and as Milsap on “The Hughleys.” Tickets are $12 to $15. ComedySportz will present their hilarious, fast-paced and clean comedy at 8 p.m. Aug. 31 and at 7 p.m. Sept. 1 at the ComedySportz Improv Theatre, located at 8906-H West Broad St. ComedySportz Richmond pits two teams, the Richmond Legends and the Virginia Hams, against each other in an improv battle for laughs and points as they make up scenes, games and songs on the spot based off audience suggestions. There is also a referee that calls the fouls and the national anthem is even played before each match. The audience then votes for the winners.  Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 at the door. Varina Library will show three films as part of Sci-Fi Saturday: “Dune” (PG-13, 1984, 137 min.) at 10 a.m. – Ruled by two warring families, the Atreides and the Harkonnens, the desert planet Arrakis will be freed or enslaved; “Ready Player One” (PG-13, 2018, 140 min.) at 12:30 p.m. – In 2045, to avoid harsh reality people escape to a virtual universe, the OASIS, and now the winner of a mind-bending treasure hunt will inherit control of it all; and “The Last Starfighter” (PG, 1984, 101 min.) at 3:30 p.m. – Alex Rogan beats The Last Starfighter video game only to find it was a test looking for warriors to defend the planet Rylos against the Kodan armada. Meadow Farm will present Saturday Live from 12 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. on the first Saturday of each month through October. Enjoy an afternoon of interactive live history demonstrations as you explore this mid-19th century farm – from blacksmithing and wool dyeing to woodworking, cooking and gardening. In addition to regular activities, each Saturday will have a unique theme and guests will be able to explore what that particular subject was like in the 1860s. Vintage 18 will perform at 8 p.m. at The Tin Pan, 8982 Quioccasin Rd. In April 2017, Vintage 18 released their debut album “Grit” which reflects the band’s love of retro soul and blues. The album features a mix of original songs and two covers – ZZ Top and Bob Dylan. Vintage 18 is comprised of Robbin Kapsalis (vocals), Bill Holter (guitar), Alex Kuldell (drums) and Mark Chandler (bass). Doors open at 6 p.m. Tickets are $12 in advance and $15 at the door. James River Cellars Winery, 11008 Washington Hwy. in Glen Allen, will host the Harvest Wine and Oyster Festival from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. Live music will be provided by Darryl Ellerson and Reunion and the food trucks Gregory’s Grill and Big Fat Grapevine will be onsite. Wine tastings provided by four different wineries. The festival is family- and pet-friendly. General admission tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the gate. The Cultural Arts Center at Glen Allen will host a Sunday Brunch Market from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Part farmers market and part arts market, the event also will feature a wine and beer garden, picnic space, live entertainment, kid’s activities, food from Glen Allen Super Market and more. Vendors include Brother Nobody’s Naturals, Charles City Fruit, Death by Glitter, Dominion Energy Green Power, Dorabella Designs, Fun Reimagined, Geescakes and Robin Grabinska, among others.
