The 13th annual Filipino Festival will be held from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Aug. 10 and from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Aug. 11 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 8200 Woodman Rd. Enjoy authentic Filipino cuisine, lively and colorful entertainment including dances from the indigenous tribes of the Mindanao region, line dancing, hands-on crafts and games for children, specialty vendors, health screenings and more. The 35th annual Virginia Outdoor Sportsman Show will be held from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Aug. 10, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Aug. 11 and from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 12 at the Richmond Raceway Complex. The show features more than 200 exhibitors and vendors. See the latest products, speak with guides, participate in seminars and demos, book your next hunting adventure and meet celebrity outdoor sportsmen. There will also be a trophy deer competition, the Virginia State Turkey Calling Contest, food, an archery range, trout pound, decoy painting and BB gun range. Sue’s Tech Kitchen will be at West Broad Village, 2301 Old Brick Rd., from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Aug. 10-11 and from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Aug. 12. Sue’s Tech Kitchen is a STEM-fueled adventure for the mouth and mind that empowers kids to engage with tomorrow’s tech and revolutionizes family dining in the process. Visitors of all ages can enjoy 3D-printed S’mores, robots controlled by candy, edible chemistry experiments, treat-dropping drones and more. West Broad Village will present its annual Rock & Roll Summer Concert Series every other Friday through August from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at The Pad, 2301 Old Brick Rd., near Aloft Hotel. Performing tonight is rock group The Barons. There will also be raffles, games, food, drinks and vendors. The concert is free and open to the public. Plunky & Oneness, a funk, jazz, Afro-fusion group led by saxophonist J. Plunky Branch, will perform from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Henrico Theatre in Highland Springs. Their music is a unique combination of exotic soulful groove, African percussion and electronics. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at www.henricolive.com.


The 2018 Richmond International Dragon Boat Festival will be held at Rocketts Landing. Led by the rhythmic beat of a drum, teams of 20 synchronized paddlers, one drummer and one steersperson race 500 meters up the river in 40-foot canoes rigged with decorative Chinese dragon heads and tails. There also will be authentic Chinese cultural performances throughout the day, music, demonstrations, a Health & Wellness Village, food trucks, beer garden and more. Admission is free. Wilton House Museum’s Jammin’ on the James summer concert series continues from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Bring a picnic dinner and your favorite lawn chair for family-friendly music on the scenic terrace overlooking the James River. The performer for August is Goldrush, an indie pop outfit from Richmond. There will also be tours of Wilton, face painting, games and crafts for kids. Rain or shine. The 1 Step 2 Health Foundation will host a Family Cycle Ride from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Dorey Park. Explore all that nature and Virginia have to offer while bike riding with family on the Capital Trail. All levels and ages welcome; there will be three waves of riders – advanced, intermediate and beginners. Bikes and helmets will be loaned out based on inventory levels; the underserved population will have priority. Family Cycle Rides continue every other Saturday until Oct. 20. Henrico Master Gardeners will be available for questions and tours of the Pollinator Garden at Short Pump Park on the second Sunday of each month, June through September. The sessions will be held from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Short Pump Park is located at 3329 Pump Rd.


The Music Ministry of Derbyshire Baptist Church will present the 22nd annual “Good Ol’ Gospel Sing” at 6 p.m. in the church sanctuary. The concert will feature timeless gospel favorites presented by various ensembles and the 60-voice Chancel Choir. The evening will conclude with an old-fashioned watermelon cutting on the front lawn. “Bugstock 4: VWs Galore!” will take place from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Twin Hickory Park. Return again to the 1960s and a groovy afternoon of tie-dye, flower power and Volkswagon Bugs and Buses.
