The River City Community Players will present “Belles: The Reunion” June 29 to July 8 at CAT Theatre, 319 N. Wilkinson Rd. in Henrico. In this heart-warming comedy, the six Walker sisters from Memphis are scattered across the country and they’re all back on their phones again for another crisis-filled weekend. Written by Mark Dunn, “Belles: The Reunion” is the sequel to his popular comedy-drama “Belles.” Showtimes are 8 p.m. Thursday-Saturday and 2:30 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $12. West Broad Village will present its annual Rock & Roll Summer Concert Series every other Friday through August from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at The Pad, 2301 Old Brick Rd., near Aloft Hotel. The 15th annual Short Pump Town Center Summer Concert Series continues with American country music duo Maddie & Tae at 6 p.m. in the Main Plaza. There will also be family-friendly entertainment and wine tastings provided by Cooper’s Hawk Winery & Restaurant to benefit the Evelyn D. Reinhart Guest House at St. Mary’s Hospital. CharacterWorks will present the award-winning musical “Hairspray” at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. June 29-30 at The Steward School, 11600 Gayton Rd. “Hairspray,” which takes place in Baltimore, 1962, during the Civil Rights Movement, reveals how discrimination in pop culture intimately shaped the lives of young people 50 years ago. Innsbrook After Hours will continue its 33rd year with Chris “Ludacris” Bridges at the SERVPRO of Richmond Pavilion. Ludacris is a recording artist, actor, philanthropist, businessman and restaurateur. He first gained worldwide acclaim more than 15 years ago with his debut album, “Back for the First Time.” He has won numerous awards and honors including three Grammys. Henrico Humane Society and Petco will host a “Be a Foster” event from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Petco, 11331 W. Broad St. near Trader Joe’s. Summer is a busy time for animal welfare organizations and many animals need a place to stay while awaiting a new permanent home. Volunteers and staff will be on hand to provide the public with further information and answer questions.


Today is the last day to enjoy the lavender field at Lavender Fields Herb Farm, 11300 Winfrey Rd. in Glen Allen. Daily tours are offered daily (except Sundays) throughout the month of June at 11 a.m. During the tour, learn about the lavender plant itself, as well as the oil and flowers it produces and how the farm uses them. No registration necessary. The field is open Monday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Entrance fee to the lavender field is $6 per person and includes 20 fresh cut lavender stems and a sample of lavender ice cream. The 1 Step 2 Health Foundation will host a Family Cycle Ride from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Dorey Park. Explore all that nature and Virginia have to offer while bike riding with family on the Capital Trail. All levels and ages welcome; there will be three waves of riders – advanced, intermediate and beginners. Bikes and helmets will be loaned out based on inventory levels; the underserved population will have priority. Family Cycle Rides continue every other Saturday until Oct. 20.
