Travel around the world without leaving Richmond at Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden’s “Take Me Away, A Garden Soiree” from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. The event, presented by the Garden’s Board of Associates, features wine and sake tastings, beer, lawn games, a raffle, dancing, salsa and bachata beats by DJ Stephen Greene and live music by Affirmative Groove. Proceeds benefit the Garden’s hands-on experiences and encourage outdoor exploration for children and their families. The event is indoor/outdoor. Enjoy a movie under the stars at Short Pump Park from 7:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. The film will be “The Secret Life of Pets” (2016, PG, 87 minutes). Bring a blanket or chair. The 14th annual Stone Soul Music and Food Festival will take place from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Virginia Credit Union Live at Richmond Raceway. Richmond’s premiere R&B and urban contemporary music festival features Ne-Yo, Trey Songz, Brandy, Plies, Trina, Daniel Caesar, Hezekiah Walker, J.J. Hairston and more. Additionally, Radio One Richmond will present the first-ever Stone Soul US Army Festival Stage featuring performances by top Richmond artists including Rap Unzel, who was featured on Jermaine Dupri’s Lifetime show The Rap Game. Innsbrook After Hours will continue its 33rd year with Hank Williams Jr. Live at the SERVPRO of Richmond Pavilion. Special guest is Josh Phillips. Gates open at 5 p.m. Show begins at 6 p.m. Tickets start at $26. Rain or shine. Sandston Baptist Church, Sandston Presbyterian Church and Corinth United Methodist Church will host a “Cruise In” from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Sandston Baptist, 100 W. Williamsburg Rd. The 2018 Beer, Bourbon & BBQ Festival will take place from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Richmond Raceway Complex. All guests will receive a souvenir glass for all-you-care-to-taste beer and bourbon. There will be more than 60 beers and 40 bourbons to enjoy. There also will be a great barbeque selection, the Shrine of Swine, seminars in the Tasting Theater, live blues and bluegrass music, exhibits and more. Tickets are $59 in advance only for the VIP session (begins at noon) and $39 to $45 for the regular session; designated driver tickets are $29 and can be purchased on-site. Wilton House Museum’s first Jammin’ on the James summer concert will take place from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Bring a picnic dinner and your favorite lawn chair for family-friendly music on the scenic terrace overlooking the James River. The performer for June is Reflections Big Band. There will also be tours of Wilton, face painting, games and crafts for kids. Rain or shine. Admission is free, but donations are appreciated. The 2018 GreenGate Festival will take place from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. June 9 and from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. June 10 at 12171 W. Broad St. Watch live mural paintings by local artists, listen to live music from Richmond bands and enjoy food and beer trucks. A Kid’s Zone will feature art projects, face painting and balloon artists. GreenGate retail tenants will open their doors and provide a unique sidewalk experience including an outdoor cycle class courtesy of CycleBar. The American Legion Post 244 and Team Xclusive Motorsports will hold a car show from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Post 244’s building at 2522 Indale Rd. in Glen Allen. Show categories include Import Class, Domestic Class, Best Old (before 1998), Best New (1998 to present) and Best in Show. Admission is a $5 donation to American Legion.


Robert Plant and the Sensational Space Shifters will bring their national concert tour to Virginia Credit Union LIVE! at Richmond Raceway at 7 p.m. Plant, once the lead singer of Led Zeppelin, has been touring on and off with the Sensational Space Shifters since 2002. Their first album, entitled “Lullaby and…the Ceaseless Roar,” was released in 2014. This year’s tour is promoting the band’s latest album, “Carry Fire.” The Sensational Space Shifters is made up of guitarist Justin Adams, keyboardist-programmer John Baggott, bassist Billy Fuller, drummer Dave Smith and guitarist Liam “Skin” Tyson. OCD Mid-Atlantic will host Richmond’s first 1 Million Steps 4 OCD Walk from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Deep Run Park, 9900 Ridgefield Pkwy. This family-friendly walk will benefit the International OCD Foundation, which raises awareness and funds for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and related disorders. Registration and participation are free; those who raise $25 or more will receive a 1 Million Steps t-shirt.
