CAT Theatre, 319 N. Wilkinson Rd. in Henrico, will present “Doublewide, Texas” June 1-16. The inhabitants of one of the smallest trailer parks in Texas are thrown for a loop when they learn their little community is about to be taken over by a nearby town. These hardworking, loyal folks deal with pending unemployment, aging parents, a non-traditional beauty pageant and an over-zealous animal lover while trying to take back their town. West Broad Village will present its annual Rock & Roll Summer Concert Series every other Friday through August from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at The Pad, 2301 Old Brick Rd., near Aloft Hotel. The Cultural Arts Center at Glen Allen’s 2nd Stage season concludes with “An Evening of Bluegrass” featuring the Slack Family Bluegrass Band at 7 p.m. This family of “brothers from different mothers” creates energetic and diverse music featuring three-part vocal harmonies and a wide variety of indigenous influences. This blend of traditional, contemporary and original tunes with mass appeal for all ages renders music their fans affectionately dub “slackgrass.” Tickets are $17 to $21. Students and faculty at Latin Ballet of Virginia will present “Gaviota (Seagull)” at 5 p.m. June 1 and at 2 p.m. June 2-3 at The Cultural Arts Center at Glen Allen. This performing arts interpretation is based on the book “Jonathan Livingston Seagull” by Richard Bach. It is a magical and philosophical story about the real importance of life and self-perfection. The annual Celebrate Varina festival will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Dorey Park. Entertainment will be provided by Jonathan Austin Juggling and Magic, Rachel Leyco Band, Next Star Performing Arts Center, The Rise Church and Danny Kensy Trio. Activities will include games, inflatables, train rides, balloon animals and airbrush tattoos, mini horses, train rides and more. Additionally, the new Dorey Park Farmers Market will open for the season at 9 a.m. The market will feature local farmers and artisans, fresh produce and baked goods, arts and crafts, kids’ activities, entertainment and more. Meadow Farm will present Saturday Live from 12 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. on the first Saturday of each month through August. Enjoy an afternoon of interactive live history demonstrations as you explore this mid-19th century farm – from blacksmithing and wool dyeing to woodworking, cooking and gardening. In addition to regular activities, each Saturday will have a unique theme and guests will be able to explore what that particular subject was like in the 1860s. The third annual Innsbrook Taste of Virginia will be held from 3:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at the Innsbrook Pavilion, 4901 Lakebrook Dr. Taste of Virginia is a family-friendly food festival showcasing delicious dishes from local restaurants, each competing for the honorary “Taste of Virginia” title, as well as awards for other significant categories. Enjoy live music by The Trongone Band, Soul Expressions and Main Street Station. There will also be craft beer and Virginia wines, a kid’s zone with moon bounces, games and cornhole, and the evening will conclude with fireworks. Proceeds benefit the K9s For Warriors organization. ComedySportz Richmond, 8906-H W. Broad St., will present a sensory-friendly performance at 3 p.m. This performance is like CSZ’s weekly shows – where two teams of improvisors go head-to-head for points and laughs – but is designed to be more accessible for individuals on the autism spectrum and their families. Features include relaxed house rules, designated break spaces, limited crowds and spaced out seating, low lighting so patrons can move around throughout the performance, reduction of sound and a glow stick raised when a loud noise is coming, and a pre-visit social story available online. The Richmond Choral Society will present “An Afternoon of Jazz” at 4 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 2315 N. Parham Rd.
